The Spirit and Songs of David Roth

The Spirit and Songs of David Roth

I think I met David Roth before I even knew there was such a thing as the Posi-Music movement. I remember hearing David at the Folk Alliance, an annual gathering of folk musicians, fans and music associates from around the country.  I was enthralled by his wonderful voice, his mastery of the guitar, and his excellent, intelligent songwriting. Plus, he was warm, friendly and down to earth.  We became good friends, and are now both very involved with posi-music.

Of course, David (like many) was doing positive music long before there was such a label. Whether poignant or humorous, his songs are about relationships and family; seekers and spiritual leaders; peace, justice, and love–both universal and personal.

While attending the Posi-Fest this year, I had a chance to sit down with this extraordinary singer, songwriter, recording artist, keynote speaker, workshop leader, and mentor to many aspiring artists. As we sat in the lobby of the Marriott Hotel in Orlando the last day of the conference,  he shared stories of how his career began, his songwriting process, and his collaborations with other artists. In this episode you’ll hear plenty of his heartfelt and beautiful music–as well as a collaboration we did at Summersongs songwriting camp in the Catskills, about their historic Covered Bridge.  As Jack Canfield said, “David and his music will touch you to the very depths of your soul. He’ll make you laugh and cry, inspire you to rise and fly…”
